I said goodbye today to the only family I have here in New York. My four brothers in arms, my comrades, my buds, my pals, who rooted with me every Sunday at Becky's Sports Bar for the Buffalo Bills.

Our season ended today. In shame. Because we have a quarterback who doesn't understand the concept of getting rid of the freakin ball.

(Why, Drew?!! Why today?!! Why did you have to go back to being the real Drew Bledsoe when everything was on the line?!! Why?!! WHYYYYYY??!!!!!!!)

Now I don't have a family again. Now I have to go back to talking about sports with my other dumbass friends who don't root for the same teams I do. The same friends who shrug, or change the subject, or ignore me altogether when I tell them there's a Sonics game on TV. The same friends who call me at a random hour and laugh because ESPN Classic is showing "The Music City Miracle." The same friends who aren't really my friends, just guys I play fantasy football with every year.

Just kidding, guys. I love you all.

But seriously, I'm living in the wrong city, always have. I don't like it here. I'm tired of being afraid all the time. I've decided not to stay. I doubt they'll kick up much of a fuss, though. Not for an old crook like me.

Next year..... next year.
