The Braves lost to the Cardinals by 5-3 today after David Eckstein hit a walk-off grand slam off our closer, Chris Reitsma.
I'm not much of a mathematician, but the odds of that happening just seemed pretty freakin small.
First of all, it's David Eckstein who hit the home run, the same David Eckstein who had only 5 home runs this year and only 2 last season. The same David Eckstein who's slugging .370. The same David Eckstein who evokes memories of Eddie Gaedel.
And on top of that, Reitsma had only given up 2 home runs in 54 innings this season before today's game.
Just a terrible way to lose. So terrible, in fact, that from this point forth, David Eckstein shall be referred to in this circle as David "Bleeping" Eckstein. . . . . .
What? It was a big game.
