The score is 3-3 in the top of the 8th.

The Braves have runners on 1st and 3rd, one out, and Kelly Johnson -- a player with a .258/.376/.447 line in 132 at-bats this season -- at the plate.

We're in control here. We're threatening. We have the Mets on the ropes.

So what does Bobby Cox decide to do?

He calls a suicide squeeze.

*MIDDLE FINGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Johnson predictably pops his bunt up to the 3rd base side, and David Wright makes a diving catch and then trots over to 3rd base for the double play.

The implicit questions here:
1) Isn't 1st and 3rd with one out a pretty good position to be in?
2) Was it really necessary to make such a risky call in this situation?

I love Bobby Cox, but sometimes he just baffles the hell out of me.
