Tuesday, November 15, officially became Alex Rodriguez Hug-Fest Day in the city of New York, where this morning sports columnists from the city's three major newspapers celebrated ARod's second American League Most Valuable Player award.

Mike Vaccaro, The New York Post:
"Rodriguez clearly understands that all he did yesterday was earn another few words on his Hall of Fame plaque, and re-emphasize, in bold-faced type, in a whole host of minds, two glaring truths about his baseball career, as it stands right now. 1) The amazing array of statistical numbers he has accrued. 2) The amazing dearth of championship jewelry currently adorning his fingers.

Mike Lupica, The New York Daily News:
"Alex Rodriguez is exactly what he was when the Yankees traded for him 21 months ago. He is their trophy third baseman, more of a trophy third baseman than ever now that he has won his second MVP award in three years. He is just not the trophy the Yankees had in mind."

Harvey Araton, The New York Times
"Big deal."
