Breaking news!
Nirmal Narayan, gossip columnist for the Whitney High School Times, reports that the Seattle Sonics and the Los Angeles Clippers are discussing a possible trade that would send Sonics guard Ray Allen to the Clippers for Corey Maggette and Chris Wilcox.
In Maggette, the Sonics would be getting a player who has long been a favorite of Sonic diehard Daniel Kim. He is a high volume/high efficiency scorer who averaged 24 points per 40 minutes and an incredible 1.15 points per shot attempt last season, largely because of his amazing ability to get to the free throw line (0.57 FT/FGA last season, the equal of Dwyane Wade.) Maggette would also give the Sonics a solid defender who has the quickness to guard the perimeter and the strength to guard the post, an element Allen could not bring if his life depended on it.
Needless to say, I would be a very happy man if this trade happened.
