When I grow up, I want to be just like Jack Bauer.
If I don't reach that goal, then I want to be just like Edgar Stiles.
If I don't reach that goal, then I at least want to speak with Edgar Stiles's lisp.
All in all, a pretty satisfying season (series?) finale. Jack saved the world. Jack died. Jack pulled a Neo and arose from the dead. And Curtis punched a girl in the face. Closed fist. No hesitation. Right in the nose. I don't know why, but that made me laugh really loud.
I gotta say, though, I felt kind of cheated by the ending. This show thrives on surprises and plot twists -- the unexpected -- and yet what do the writers use as the final scene of the season? The most predictable scene in film and television history: The sunglassed hero walking off into the sunset.
Lame.
If you ask me, they should've had Jack eating something -- anything, FINALLY -- like a bag of trail mix or cashews, and then conking out on a bed in a Tijuana motel.
Then the camera could slowly pan over to his alarm clock.
6:59:57
6:59:58
6:59:59
7:00:00
Fade out.
Actually, that walk-off-into-the-sunset ending was perfect.
