"AHHHHHHH! NO...... FRICK! NO! STOP HIM! STOP HIM! . . . . YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
--Daniel Kim, about five minutes ago.
My roommate just knocked on my door a few minutes ago and asked if everything's OK. It's like 1:15 in the morning and I screamed "YESSSSSSSS!" at the top of my lungs because I just finished watching the most intense game the Sonics have played in years.
I can't remember the last time I was so emotionally involved in a game. Seriously, maybe not since Game 7 of the 1992 NLCS, when Francisco Cabrera lined that 2-out, 2-run single to left and Barry Bonds couldn't throw Sid Bream out at the plate. Obviously there've been a lot of meaningful games in between, but it's been so long since any of my teams have played such an intense, competitive game in the postseason that this seems like a top fiver.
I'm sure when I settle down and my pulse returns to normal I'll put it back in its rightful spot. But right now I can't sleep.
I'll leave you with these post-game words from Bizarro Jerome James, who returned tonight to contribute a 15-point, 7-for-7 FG night.
Sideline reporter: You told me that you guys as a team were giving them (the Spurs) too much respect. Do you still believe that?
Bizarro Jerome James: I don't give 'em no respect. NONE. (walks off the court with a gangsta face)
Nice.
