I took a stand this Tuesday. I decided not to vote. I decided this election wasn't worth my time. I decided the right to vote is just that -- a right, not an obligation. I decided I can live my life just fine without worrying about taxes or gay marriages or abortion rights. I decided democracy is a system ultimately defined by selfish interests, a process in which people fight not for what's right but for what's right for themselves. I decided the debates that are waged in politics are circuitous and pointless. I decided, once and for all, to declare my indifference to politics and politicians.
Actually, I just wanted to avoid serving jury duty.
